unparallel way

By humorously raising the yellow lines that separate 4th Avenueʼs traffic lanes, Unparallel Way questions and heightens awareness of the parallel (and simultaneously diverging) paths that we all follow in our urban daily lives. While suggesting alternative ways within the cityʼs infrastructural context, it is also a comment on the lives of individuals in the city, who cross paths, converge and separate through the course of our movements through life in the metropolis landscape. Interpreting life's ups and downs in a true state of mind holds open the nature of the paths we follow and the landscape that it creates which becomes the hills and valleys to create our own personal horizon lines as the “road rises to meet us”.

In conjunction with Brooklyn Utopias - In Transit-ion responds to differing visions of ideal urban transportation systems, or proposing their own was curated by Katherine Gressel and exhibited at the Old Stone House in Brooklyn NY.
